It was in the beginning of June in this year that I met with her at the event of textile design exhibition in nagoya in the season when everyone totally change to that wear to completely summer style. Its event was held at Temple in Tsurumai area. And the tea party in japanese style also held at the same time in one part of that temple. me and rie had met in that green tea party on the tatami ( japanese straw floor covering ) while sipping a green tea of japanese traditional style ( o-maccha ). then, we started to have a chat so naturally, and knew that we were doing about photography each other, and she was saying about this exhibition at that time.
彼女と初めて会ったのは6月の初め、
誰もが衣替えをし終えた頃に名古屋で行われたテキスタイルデザインのイベントでした。
鶴舞のあるお寺で行われたそのイベントには茶道によるお茶会があり、
畳の上で正座をしつつ、お抹茶をいただきながら彼女と知り合いました。
その場の自然な流れでお話をすると、お互い写真活動をしていることがわかり、
その時にすでに今回のエキシビションの話をしていました。
the way of displaying was so stunning and I was so captivated visually. It was exactly like that I saw the view which she created. I felt cozy so instantly.
ギャラリー内に入ると
その展示方法に僕は目を奪われました。
その空間はすぐに僕に長居を促すような居心地を与えました。
the view was the concept of this time and it was her life through concept according to she said. she is from the country side of Hiroshima. and she had been spend time while do the strolling and played around such a circumstances which full of nature with her friend like to doing a watching a sky with lying on the grassland and to do the imagine that "this sky is something like California one!".
this "cross" is constructed by two era in the same place. "2006" was photographed evening to morning at the place where near by Nagoya University of Arts where she graduated in 2006, literally. And, "2016" was photographed morning to the night.
when I stand in between the two of this works in the gallery, I felt like that I am in the between of two era. something like in the time and space of her vision, of her memory.
by the way, do you cared about this aligned displaying way like domino? I really love it. that's cause she is from sculpture section in the school, therefore the way of displaying also very tend to having an installation sense. she explained that " the reason I chose this way in this work is that wanted to show this colour gradation in most specialization method ". In fact, as she said, we can experience so visually as bodily sensation. Also, she said that " I feel view and landscape in very mental-ish sense ".
今回のエキシビションのコンセプトの"風景"は、まさに彼女のルーツといえる存在だといいます。
彼女は広島の田舎出身で（彼女いわくかなりの田舎！とのこと。笑）
幼い頃から自然に囲まれて育ち、友達とも草原に寝転がって空をみながら
〝今日のこの空はカルフォルニアの空だね！〟
と想像しながら遊んでいたそうです。
〝cross〟という作品は二つの年代の風景を約10分ごとに撮影し、その変化を捉えたもの。
彼女の母校である名古屋芸大の近くで撮影されたらしく
２００６年に撮影されたものと、２０１６年に撮影されたものが向かい合って展示されており
２００６は夕方から朝まで、２０１６は朝から夜までを撮影したもの。
どちらもまるで映像をみているような錯覚に陥り、
空の美しさをインスタントに体感しました。
きっとあなたの好きな時間を再認識することになるでしょう。
〝cross〟の二つの年代の風景の間に立った時、
僕はどこかその２００６年から今の２０１６年の間の期間にいるような感覚を得ました。
彼女のビジョンの時空の中のような、
彼女の記憶の時空の中にいるような。
ところで、このドミノだおしのような展示方法がすでに気に入った方もおられるでしょう。
彼女は彫刻科の出身なので、非常にインスタレーション的な感覚を持ち合わせており
この展示方法にしたのは彼女いわく、〝これら風景の変化、色味などのグラデーションを感じ取ってもらいたかったから。〟とのこと。
実際彼女の言ったように、観覧者はきっとそれを視覚的にも体感できるでしょう。
さらに彼女は風景について、〝わたしにとっての風景の存在は、表層的なものではなく、精神的な感覚で存在しています。〟ともおっしゃっていました。
we can recognise that the view is not only in a vision by to watch this exhibition. she created a poet at at first, and afterward she photographed for that poet. and that way of making poet is very interesting. first, she excerpt some phrase from some literature books like Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Soseki Netsume, Osamu Dazai kind of like that. and second, clip it out from that books, and by using these phrase, she create the new poet with her sense like above picts.
not only that, the method of photographs also so interesting. this time she used a glass which on drawing to photograph this view. she shot the subjects through that depicted glass and it is going to be her original view.
what I had interested this time is that things what she through. she photograph through the depicted glass, and express the view through the old literature words, and she display through the sculptural sense, and she made a " cross " through the two ages. I personally think this is the why she is an obviously the Artist. Oscar Wilde said " No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If he did, he would cease to be an artist. " yes, Rie is obviously seeing this world through her sense, through her background.
several cases which photos are putting in means that for to pick them up and directly grab that views into your hands. and by reading that phrase which " new poet " by her, you can go the original view where you create in your back ground and memory through her works as filter.
きっとこのエキシビションに行くと、風景とは視覚でしか認知できないものではないとわかるだろう。
彼女はまず詩を作成し、それに沿った撮影を開始した。
そして、その詩の作成方法が実におもしろい。
まず幾つかの日本文学、芥川龍之介や太宰治、谷崎潤一郎、夏目漱石といった中から、彼女が気に入った美しい描写の文を抜粋し、
それを本の本体から切り抜く。
そしてそれらの切り抜きを使って、写真の風景に合わせて新しい詩を作る。
興味深いのは詩の作り方だけではない。その写真撮影にもある。ガラス板に点描で描いた絵を、被写体に透かし、そして感光させる。フォトグラム（レイヨグラフ、とりわけMan Rayが好きな僕はレイヨグラフ慣れしているが。笑）を起用しての撮影等をよくやるらしい。〝わたしほとんどカメラ使わないんです！〟と笑顔で言う彼女。笑 いやーおもしろい。笑
そうしてガラス板を通ってできた風景は、無論、彼女にしか拵えれない風景だ。
今回僕が興味深く感じたのは、彼女が〝通して見る、通してみる物〟だ。
絵付けされたガラス板を通して撮影され、
古典文学を通して表現され、
そして彫刻的感覚を通して展示され
そして二つの年代を通して作成されたcross。
僕が個人的に感じたのは、いかに彼女がアーティストであるか、だ。
オスカーワイルドの言葉に〝偉大な芸術家は物事をあるがままには決して見ない。もしそうしたのなら、芸術家ではなくなっているのだ。〟というのがある。
そう、彼女は明らかに彼女自身の感覚、彼女自身のバックグラウンドを持って世界を見ている。
写真は様々なケースの中に入っていて、それは写真たちを自分の手に取り、
そしてそれに〝触れて掴むことができる〟ようになっている。
彼女の作った詩も添えて。
その〝新詩〟を読みながら写真を見ると、
きっとあなたもその風景の中に、いつかの思い出や記憶から作られる、
あなただけのオリジナルの風景を想起することだろう。
