I would like to introduce this film in this time. I think someone already know. So, eighteen years old boy got prosecution for killed his father, twelve man as a juror discuss about the guilty or not on that boy, if the boy was guilty, he will get capital punishment. So, these twelve men who don't know even the name of each other are entrusted about the life of this boy. The director Sidney Lumet made this maiden as long film in 1957 revealed human's true character with establishment of citizen judge system.
今回はこの映画を紹介したいと思う。知ってる人もいると思うが、邦題で"十二人の怒れる男"だ。18歳の少年が父親を殺したということで起訴され、それに対し１２人の陪審員が少年の有罪か無罪かを決める訳だが、有罪の場合少年は死刑。よってこの少年の命をどう動かすかはこのお互いの名前さえも知らない１２人の陪審員の男達に託されたわけだ。裁判員制度という設定によって暴かれる人間達の本性をシドニー・ルメット監督が1957年に作り上げた長編デビュー作だ。
Before to saying a depiction of humanity which this film shows, there is something to need to describe I think. It is that these all twelve men are white, and the fact which there is no woman. This film was made in 1957, the system of woman for jury member was accepted in all of state in America was in 1973. So, that is the reason why there is no woman in this film. and, on the choose the jury, It also participate the tend of prosecution and plea side. Therefore, it doesn't mean that there was gathered with twelve men who has neutral notions. Originally, if gathered the humans who has neutral notion, it will be to spend lots of days. These days, it is being to use the way of that answered to the dozens of documents, and extracted the informations from jury candidate by it, and apparently setting a criteria of the consideration for selection of it. therefore, to hope to keep in mind is that there are a lots of differences between recent citizen judge system and it in at that time of 1957 something like this film on how to select the jury members and time limit. So, it's not good way to watch this film with such a present sense that having a strict rule of citizen judge system in your mind. Especially, the scene of when one jury showed the knife was basically violation as that rule which of no permitted to bring any stuffs without a piece of evidences. present days, number eight jury have to be dismissal and even the jury who had a sense of discrimination also must to be dismissal when it has came out.
この映画が表している人間性の描写などを述べる前に、記しておかなければならないことがあると思う。それは、この１２人が全員白人であり、また女性が一人もいないという事だ。この映画は1957年だが、アメリカにおいて全ての州で女性の陪審員が認められたのは1973年のこと。よってこの映画で女性がいない理由はそこだ。そして、陪審員を選ぶのに、検察側と弁護側の意図もある。よって、完全にニュートラルな考えの１２人がここにいるというわけではないということだ。そもそもニュートラルな考えの人間を集めるだけで何日も日が暮れてしまうだろう。今日では数十枚の資料の質問に答えてもらうことなどで、陪審員候補の情報を引き出し、選定の為の考慮の基準をとっているらしい。よって、まず頭に入れておいてほしいのは、現在の裁判員制度とこの映画の1957年当時のそれとは陪審員の選定方法や時間制限（映画では１時間にしようと一人の陪審員が言い出す。）も違うということだ。よって裁判員制度の厳密なルールを持ち合わせた現代の感覚で観るのは映画を見る上ではあまり喜ばしくない。とくにナイフのシーンなど、提出された証拠品以外を持ち込むのは原則として違反で、現代では、ナイフのシーンが起こった地点で８番陪審員（ヘンリー・フォンダ）は解任されてしまうし、差別意識などを持った陪審員もそれがバレた地点で解任されてしまう。
The reason why I tend to watch this film was that to connected two of info came out to appeared on me in suddenly and so timely. when I researched before about “ Tom At The Farm ” of Xavier Dolan, I found that Dolan got some influenced from this film. and other one was from the 73 question series against Daniel Radcliff by Vogue. and he mentioned this film as his favorite film. So, I knew this film from these such a simple reason that my favorite person on film industry mentioned. when you watch the “ Tom At The Farm ” afterwards experienced this court suspense system, you might to feel and enjoy with to having a new perspective.
僕がこの映画を見ようと思ったのには、あるふたつの情報が偶然にもタイムリーに合致したからだ。依然のグザヴィエ・ドランの『トム・アット・ザ・ファーム』の情報をリサーチしていたとき、ドランがこの映画に影響を受けたというもの。そして、もうひとつは、VOGUEが現在シリーズ化させている、著名人に73の質問を訊くというもので、ダニエル・ラドクリフが好きな映画にこれを挙げていたことだ。僕の好きな二人の映画人が挙げていたという実にシンプルな理由でこの映画を知ったのだが、この法廷サスペンスのシステムを体感したあとに『トム・アット・ザ・ファーム』を観ると、それはより新たな視点で楽しめることになるだろう。
